Amazon has announced a new service called Buy With Prime. The service will allow select Amazon merchants to sell their products directly from their websites while taking advantage of Amazon payment and fulfillment services. Shoppers will also get the option of using their Amazon Prime membership for quick, no-charge delivery and other benefits.
The initiative is rolling out this year, and initially is invite-only to the Amazon marketplace sellers but will eventually include non-FBA Amazon sellers as well as retailers and brands not otherwise affiliated with Amazon.
Buy with Prime seems destined to count as a fresh advantage for Amazon, which is being buffeted from various sides recently, including rising fuel costs, slowing e-commerce growth, ongoing global supply chain issues, and unionization, in addition to customer strains including inflation, shifts in spending priorities and a renewed preference for physical stores.
The program allows marketplace sellers to reach Prime customers through their sites but also entices brands reluctant to be found on Amazon
