Carrefour has partnered with Delipop to create a new robotic pedestrian drive service, with the first pickup point having opened this week in Paris city centre, and a further 4 more planned by the end of next year.
The pedestrian drive stations are fully automated and contain temperature-controlled smart lockers that are stocked with customer orders fulfilled from a Carrefour warehouse out of the city centre.
Shoppers collect their orders through receiving a text message alerting them to which locker their order is in and enabling them to collect it either the same day or the day after having spent a 20 euros minimum order.
Each station can hand 60 orders a day and is accessible through an access code within the text. All the customer then has to do is scan the QR code on an in-store terminal that then lets them know which drawer will open.
