Alibaba’s B2C e-commerce platform, Tmall, has this week announced the launch of innovative product labels that are set to help consumers check the environmental impact of their purchases and inform around making sustainable choices.
On the product display page, customers are able to see the difference in carbon emissions when switching to an energy-efficient device vs a regular appliance, with Tmall already having categorized over 300,000 energy-efficient home appliances from 3,000 merchants.
The initiative is the latest tool Alibaba is utilizing in order to meet its 1.5 gigatons decarbonization goal by 2035.
